‘Junk Food’

America the only nation in the world where free food is given to people who are mostly OBESE

by Isabelle Z. (NaturalNews) On April 1, more than half a million Americans lost their food stamp benefits as new government regulations came into effect. According to the new rules, people who want to keep their Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits for more than three months, must work, volunteer, or else enroll in a job training program for at least 20 hours per week. These rules apply to able-bodied adults between the ages of 18 and 49 who do not have children. Work requirements were waived for SNAP in 2008 because of the financial crisis, but these requirements are now reappearing in many states. Estimates show that as many as a million people could lose their food stamp benefits by the end of the year as a result. Requiring people to… Read More

Soda Blocks Brain Repair

Please don’t give your child sugar after a brain injury. This definitely includes the fructose in a soda. Action Alert! by anh-usa New evidence shows that processed sugars prevent the brain’s ability to heal after head trauma. As Dr. Russell Blaylock reported in his December 2015 Blaylock Wellness Report, laboratory rats were trained for five days to escape a maze. Next, the rats were randomly assigned to groups that were fed either plain water or fructose-infused water for six weeks. In the seventh week, the rats underwent a procedure to reproduce the aspects of a human traumatic brain injury. After another six weeks, the rats were retested on their ability to escape the maze. The rats on the sugar diet took 30% longer to finish the maze than those who drank plain… Read More

Teacher Shills for McDonald’s, Tells Students They Can Lose Weight by Eating Junk Food

In case you haven’t heard, McDonald’s is in serious trouble. Sales at their stores have been declining for seven straight quarters, as they face more competition while Americans ditch their food for healthier alternatives. So just how low could one corporation stoop to bring back their customers? They could start by paying a teacher to travel to schools across the country, while shilling their products to young minds. John Cisna is a science teacher from Iowa who is currently spreading his “McDonald’s Diet” plan to 90 different high schools and colleges. The fast food giant made him a company ambassador and started paying for his time and travel expenses, after he decided to form a diet plan that would help him lose weight by “eating nothing but McDonald’s for breakfast, lunch and… Read More

The Dark Side of McDonald’s World-Famous Fries

,he pesticides used on potato farms in rural Minnesota are harming human health and the environment. There’s no doubt that McDonald’s french fries are, as the company regularly trumpets, “world famous.” But like many who are touched by fame, those legendary taters have a dark side that remains largely hidden from public view. And this dark side has nothing to do with the obesity crisis. McDonald’s purchases more than 3.4 billion pounds of potatoes grown in the United States every year. The company’s preferred variety is Russet Burbank. While certainly delicious to the “billions served,” the problem with this 130-year-old variety is its susceptibility to rot and other diseases, which means farmers regularly employ a significant amount of pesticides on their crops. Rural communities in northern Minnesota that live near potato farms… Read More

Wait! What – Diet Soda Makes You Fat?

Among those who consumed diet sodas every day, or more often than once a day, waist circumference increased over 3 inches. Those who drink diet soda thinking it will help them shed unwanted belly fat may see their waistlines expand instead. New analyses from an observational study of San Antonio men and women age 65 and older seem to indicate this. The San Antonio Longitudinal Study of Aging (SALSA), led by Helen P. Hazuda, Ph.D., professor of medicine in the School of Medicine at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, gathered data on health status and lifestyles of 749 Mexican-American and European-American elders, then tracked the health outcomes in 466 survivors for more than nine years. The number of sodas they consumed – and whether they were diet… Read More

Huge Number of Nutritional Experts May Be Bought off by the Big Junk Food Companies

Reports paint a scary picture of how food corporations collude to manipulate information in order to increase profits. According to a new report, many scientific studies about nutrition, as well as the trusted experts who disseminate this information to the public, are being funded by the very entities that should be scrutinized. The report, “Nutrition Scientists on the Take from Big Food,” details the ways that the world’s largest food corporations—aka Big Food—exert their influence on nutrition research and the people who conduct it. The report’s author, attorney and food advocate Michele Simon, has previously studied the influence of Big Food on the nation’s largest organization of registered dietitians. Together, these reports paint a scary picture of how food corporations collude to manipulate information in order to increase their profits at the public’s… Read More

Vinyl Plastic Found In McDonald’s Chicken McNuggets Sparks A Massive Recall

Another discovery of something disturbing has been found coming from McDonald’s. At a restaurant in Japan, vinyl (plastic) was discovered in an order of Chicken McNuggets at an Aomori location. The contaminated nuggets were then sent back to the headquarters in Tokyo for an investigation, and some media outlets are reporting that the recall includes millions of nuggets. According the the Wall Street Journal, the incident garnered a lot of media attention, as it was reported by media outlets across Japan. (source) It’s not only the food/unhealthy factor that has people turning away from eating this stuff, it’s the fact that animals are raised to be slaughtered, kept in conditions that should be considered something similar to torture. Billions upon billions of animals are killed every year for food consumption, and that’s… Read More

Study: Junk Food more Deadly than War, Famine, Genocide

Food in the end, in our tradition, is something holy. It’s not about nutrients and calories. It’s about sharing. It’s about honesty. It’s about identity. ~ Louise Fresco You may already know that junk food is bad for your health, but you may not realize how bad it can be. A new study from the School of Medical Sciences at Australia’s University of New South Wales points to profound brain changes that junk food causes, making a junk food habit “more deadly than war, famine, and genocide”. Say what? Yep, the food war is real, and though the UNSW study was conducted on rats, the brain changes observed matter to us humans. As mammals we share similar brain functioning in the orbitofrontal cortex, the part of our gray matter responsible for sensing and evaluating the pleasurable aspects… Read More

Toxins in the Food Chain, And Why Quality Supplementation is Necessary

Dr. Eldon Dahl, Prevent Disease Waking Times When it comes to supplements, the series of questions that individuals ask most frequently relate to their necessity. Do we not get all of the necessary nutrients, vitamins and minerals from the food that we eat? And if we eat a regular, balanced diet, is that not enough to keep our bodies healthy and fit?” If you were to ask those questions prior to the turn of the 20th century, or even into the first quarter of the 20th century, the answer would have been yes. But today, given the fact that we do not have pure food anymore, the answer is no! Today, our oceans are in terrible shape. The fish that we catch have high levels of poisons and toxins. The Environmental Protection Agency and Food and… Read More
