You will often see warnings to use caution with volcanic ash and cinder or to avoid it altogether.
Women particularly have been advised to avoid it even thought they are quite often called to use it . It is being used more often now days and is on some "New Age" stone lists.
The former restriction on women working with volcanic ash and stones has much to with societies discomfort with women who own their power and speak their mind . Volcanic ash and stones in general stimulate self reliance, initiative ,self assurance and independence .

It is a Healers stone and token of the Earth Keeper and can be very soothing and healing of emotional trauma. It may indicate a call to work in earth healing and ecology. It is not used as a conventional elixir It is often added in small
amounts to manifestation bundles and protective work.

Remember, that prayer to the principle Volcano Goddess often begins "Take me with force, Loudly. Come into me ( with force loudly) ".
The energy of volcanic ash and cinder can pull out your inner power and dramatically reveal the distance between the life you are living and your true path and it will move you onto that path. Smoothly, if you allow it and forcefully if you resist ( some people have interpreted the effects as Bad luck because they were not able to accept the dramatic changes ).
