10 Ways To Embody Peace On Earth
by Linda White Dove
1. Acknowledge your feelings about world events. It is normal to have
strong reactions to what is happening in our world. It is neither
healthy nor spiritual to repress/deny parts of yourself. This is what
leads to war in the first place.
2. Once you have acknowledged your feelings, notice where you
experience them in your body. Take some time for yourself to relax
into the feelings, witnessing them from a space of unconditional
love. Once way to know what this feels like is to think of a young
child or an animal companion. Then "transfer" your response to the
emotions you are witnessing and just be. You may notice an immediate
shift or it may take consistent practice. The key is to just love and
observe.
3. Practice forgiveness. The acceptance of your own feelings opens
the door to a more expansive perspective. It is the fear based need
to control that has people wreak havoc on the planet and each other.
People are not good or bad. We are all afraid and we all have our own
responses to the fear. Forgiveness means clearing the way to respond
from your own power instead of from someone else's fear.
4. Discover your own way to respond to world events. We are all
connected and so everything that you do no matter how seemingly
insignificant or unusual makes a difference. There are as many ways
to respond as there are people. You may choose responses such as
letter writing or demonstrating or you may choose to try the
activities in this article, witnessing world events with
unconditional love, etc. The format is not as important as your
intent.
5. Do not victimize yourself. It is easy to feel powerless and to
respond from feelings of victimization, fear and anger. This only
manifests more victim mentality. Notice without judgment all the
situations in which you feel victimized and powerless. The activity
in #2 of this article can be used to address this. Remember that we
are all one and as you resolve the victim feelings you are creating
space for others to do likewise.
6. Develop an awareness of true power. Power is a collective
experience. We are all connected and therefore our choices impact the
whole of creation. This makes us all very powerful co-creators! Our
power is responsibility. Responsibility is the ability to respond. It
is not about blame. Responsibility can be misunderstood and used in
fear as a way to stay stuck or as a way to use our power more
lovingly, productively and with greater ease.
7. Focus on the positive. Express gratitude for what is beautiful,
peaceful, effective, growthful, and healing. Acknowledge people who
make a difference in the world and in your life. There is so much to
be joyful about! Feed this! Feel it in your body. Send it lots of
love, offer it to the connectedness so it can nurture us all.
8. Develop your innocence, openness, sense of wonder and trust. To be
jaded, resentful and over-protective is to restrict your life force
energy making it difficult to access the sustenance that comes from
our connection with each other. Our power is in our connectedness.
9. Do what you can at your own pace. Nobody is evaluating your worth
based on how much you offer or how quickly. If they are, it is coming
from fear anyway. Everyone is different. Take the time to nourish and
replenish. Wearing yourself out- ignoring your inner peace not only
depletes your resources to offer others, but since it is self
victimization it detracts from the planetary peace you are striving
to create. Self sacrifice is victimization of yourself and others.
10. If you find this article helpful, pass it on to others. I believe
our shift of power from fear-based-false-power (based on feeling
powerless) to that of true power (based on connectedness) is the
natural result of embodying peace. Fear cannot exist in a climate
that does not recognize it. Additionally as each of us embodies peace
this also impacts our leaders since we are all connected. Together we
are making a difference!
