Native How to Recognize Your Animal Guide

How do you know your animal guide? Some people like to think that you can simply visualize an animal and that you can draw on its power, but I feel you need to allow the universe to bring to you what is right for you rather than what you think you want. Your animal guide is a presence to respect. It is with you all of this life. Other totem animals may come and go according to the lessons you are experiencing. Each animal carries with it strengths that you can learn to take into your own life as well as challenges to your character in areas you could improve on. Taking a special note of the behaviors, traits, habitats and eating habits of your animal will reveal a lot about what would be helpful to you in your situation.

Look back to your childhood. Is there an animal that either terrified you or fascinated you? Is
there a story that involves an animal that you have never forgotten, so much so that it is still
in your mind as an adult? In order to learn the most from an animal spirit you first need to
respect it, look at, listen to and learn about the animal.
